About This Quote
The phrase, ‘Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned’ is quite true. Women have been known to go wild when they believe someone has wronged them. In this quote from the book “The Scarlet Letter” by Nathaniel Hawthorne, the character Hester Prynne is being punished for her sins against Pearl, a young girl she previously loved. The phrase, ‘it was as if hell itself had taken human form and come up from the abyss’ is a great way to explain how much Pearl loved Hester.
